Fine imposed on UP Power Corpn

The Central Electricity Regulatory Commission (CERC) on Tuesday imposed a fine of Rs 1 lakh on Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Ltd (UPPCL) for drawing excess electricity from the Northern Grid in April this year. An enquiry conducted by the one-member Adjudicating Officer appointed by the Commission found UPPCL guilty of violating the direction of Northern Regional Load Despatch Center (NRLDC) during April. A token fine of Rs 1 lakh has been imposed on the utility in view of the difficult power situation prevailing in the Northern Region during April, the CERC said in its order.
