Hitex expo to showcase Internet potential

The second edition of the three-day Hyderabad International Gems and Jewellery Exposition 2006, beginning at the Hitex expo facility on August 6, will educate jewellers and customers on how to tap Internet to sell or buy jewellery.
Representatives of eBay, the portal that offers a platform for Net-based auctions and sales, will explain the concept of selling through the Web, a senior official of the expo said.
SEMINAR
A seminar would be held simultaneously, discussing various issues related to the gems and jewellery industry.
About 100 jewellers, jewellery equipment manufacturers and security solution companies would set up stalls, said Mr Mohanlal Gupta, Vice-President of Twin Cities Jewellers Association.
Addressing a press conference here on Wednesday, he said the gems and jewellery industry was undergoing a transition from being a cottage industry with primitive production methods to a progressive industry with modern technology.
He said the expo would offer opportunities for both business-to-business and business-to-business interactions.
