Pune , Aug. 2

Microsoft is betting on the country's 1.6 million strong gaming community, now growing exponentially, to push the sales of its seventh generation gaming console, Xbox 360, that has sold 55 lakh units since its launch across North America, Europe, Japan, Australia and other markets beginning November 2005.

The gaming console, with price tags varying between Rs 19,900 and Rs 23,990, has already been booked in advance by an estimated 10,000 gamers who put down Rs 5,000 in advance during a pre-launch promotion by the company.

The Microsoft Entertainment and Devices Division Country Head, Mr Mohit Anand, said here the company will launch the gaming console ahead of the Diwali season, and is in the process of tying up with large format retail outlets such as hypermarkets to ensure the consumers have maximum access to the product. The company said it has tied up an exclusive partnership with Redington for distribution of the product across India.
