Dax Networks targets managed networking services market

V. Rishi Kumar

E-governance initiatives promising

Hyderabad , Aug. 2

Dax Networks Ltd, a networking products and solutions provider, is eyeing the emerging managed networking services market, particularly targeting the small and medium sized enterprises.

The company, which expects to achieve a turnover of about Rs 110 crore this year, plans to offer these services through its implementation partners.

The Country Manager of Dax Networks, Mr K. Surendar, said even several deployments in e-governance where States such as Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu are investing significantly for networking projects, are looking to managed services.

Mr Surendar told Business Line that there was a clear shift in the way enterprises and government projects are looking at networking technologies. As opposed to buying and aggregating them, they prefer a solutions approach, where a service provider will deploy and manage these solutions. This insulates them against technology obsolescence and also helps them to constantly upgrade.

Citing the examples of a few deployments such as State Wide Area Networks, Mr Surendar said that in such large deployments, they want not only networking solutions but also other aspects such as security bundled into the offering. It is here that partners such as Tulip and Reliance play a strategic role.

Apart from governments, which is predominantly a tender-based business, companies in telecom, healthcare, banking and financial services sectors are moving towards managed services. The company is currently working with Rainbow Hospitals, Care Hospitals and Andhra Pradesh State Council of Higher Education, providing their entire networking solutions connecting various centres.

Earlier, the company was engaged with the State e-governance projects and provided solutions for e-seva centres in Andhra Pradesh and secured orders from Internet Service Providers— Beam Cable and Excel Media, offering them end-to-end networking solutions.

Dax's managed services are branded as ROTI for Network where ROTI stands for Return on Technology Investments, he said.
