K.R. Srivats

New Delhi , Aug 2

The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) is in full strength now, with the Government appointing four new members on Tuesday.

All the vacancies have been filled and the Board now has six members and a Chairperson, a CBDT spokesperson confirmed. The latest appointments assume significance, as the Board was not functioning in full strength over the past several months.

The four new members are Mr Rajiv Ranjan Singh, Mr Rao Ranvijay Singh, Ms Indira Bhargava and Mr Ratneshwar Prasad.

While Mr Ranjan Singh was hitherto Director General of Income Tax (Investigation) in Delhi, Mr Ranvijay Singh was DGIT (Investigation) in Mumbai. Ms Bhargava was Chief Commissioner of Income Tax (CCIT) in Mumbai and Mr Prasad was CCIT in Delhi.

On work distribution among the new members, the CBDT spokesperson said that the Finance Minister, Mr P. Chidambaram, would decide on it.
