Hotels States - West Bengal Cyprus college ties up with hotel management institutes Our Bureau
Kolkata, Aug 2 The College of Tourism and Hotel Management (CTHM) of Nicosia, Cyprus, has beckoned students of hotel and hospitality management in India to take up courses, especially top-up courses in hotel and hospitality management, in that country. To facilitate Indian students to take up such courses in Cyprus, CTHM has tied up with three hotel management institutes in West Bengal, including the National School of Hotel Management. The other two institutes are The School of Indian Hotel Management and IIAS. Addressing a news conference here, Dr Savvas Adamides, Director of CTHM, said the institute was focused on tourism, hotel and hospitality management and its students were well placed in the hospitality industry globally. Students who complete the courses on offer are given a European degree and are assisted in securing placements in the global hospitality marketplace. Dr Adamides said CTHM has a total of 400 students on its rolls. Of these, 90 per cent were foreigners, including 40 Indians. With the tie-up with the three institutes, it was hoped that students of hospitality and hotel management in India would wish to pursue their formal education and industrial training in Cyprus, which has emerged as a major tourist destination. Besides, it would be easy for students who graduate out of Cyprus to seek employment in European countries. Besides full-time degree courses, CTHM has on offer a one-year, top-up-cum-finishing courses for those students who have already obtained their diplomas from Indian hotel management institutes. "A top-up course will not only offer students with an opportunity to get to know the environment in the hospitality sector in Europe but also brighten their prospects of securing an international career in that part of the world," Dr Adamides said.
