AAI employees plan mass leave on Aug 17, 18

New Delhi , Aug. 3

Air services around the country could be disrupted on August 17 and 18, with the Airports Authority of India Joint Employees Forum threatening to go on mass leave through out the country from 7 a.m. on August 17 till 7 p.m. the following day.

"We will go on mass leave to protest against the arbitrary manner in which all employees of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) have been pushed to the new joint venture company that has taken over the management of the airports in Delhi and Mumbai. This has been done without consulting the recognised union. Besides, there has been no meeting of the tripartite committee that was set up," the Forum's General Secretary, Mr M.K. Ghoshal, said.

The management of Delhi and Mumbai airport has passed into the hands of two new joint venture companies — Delhi International Airport Ltd Ltd and Mumbai International Airport Ltd Ltd. While a consortium led by the GMR group has a majority stake in DIAL, a consortium led by the GVK group has a majority stake in MIAL.
