Hyderabad Marriott Hotel opens

Marriott International, Inc. has expanded its portfolio in India with the opening of the 297-room Hyderabad Marriott Hotel, after an extensive renovation and expansion of the former Viceroy Hotel.

The hotel is the seventh Marriott property in India and is owned and operated by Viceroy Hotels Ltd. Overlooking Hussain Sagar Lake, the Hyderabad Marriott Hotel is approximately a 10-minute drive from the airport.

The general manager is Mr Philip Spencer and the director of marketing is Mr Jal Goiporia. The hotel has opened with a corporate rate of $230 for a superior room, the Marriot International said in a press release datelined Washington and released here on Friday. The Hyderabad Marriott Hotel offers 3,083 square metres of space for conferences and social events, consisting of a 968-square metre ballroom and 14 additional meeting rooms.

Marriott International is represented in India by two hotels in Mumbai and others in Goa, New Delhi, the Lakeside Chalet Marriott Executive Apartments, and the Courtyard Hotel in Chennai. In 2007, the 308-room JW Marriott Hotel Bangalore will open as the eighth Marriott hotel in India.

The Global lodging company is also planning a 354-room Hotel in Bangalore (2008), 199-room Courtyard in Gurgaon, 250-room Courtyard, Kolkata, 193-room Courtyard in Hyderabad and 190-room Courtyard in Noida by 2008.
