Oracle India upbeat on enterprise applications biz

L.N. Revathy

Coimbatore , Aug 4

Oracle has started to perceive an accelerated growth in its enterprise applications business across the Asia-Pacific region.

Speaking to Business Line, Mr Krishan Dhwan, Managing Director, Oracle India Private Ltd, said the company was growing much faster than its rival - SAP - in the Indian market.

"We beat many of our competitors. We beat SAP more than 70 times last year to win deals in a variety of industries including manufacturing, retail, banking, government, telecom, media and capital markets. The momentum has been quite strong till date. ur products are well integrated and we have compelling value propositions for our customers," he said.

The company currently has 500 applications customers in India. This is in addition to the 6,000 database and middleware customers.

Stating that China and India were among its strongest markets, Mr Dhawan said `China is stronger compared to India. But we firmly believe that an increase in IT absorption would have a multiplier effect of the technology.'

Oracle India, however, is upbeat about the growth in the SME and the Government segment. `Most of the Government projects use Oracle products,' he said.
