Relook at superfast train fares hailed

Our Correspondent

Madurai, Aug. 7

The Sattur Chamber of Commerce and Industries while welcoming the announcement of introduction of Janata AC train travel at Rs 600 by the Union Railway Minister, has pointed out that the announcement has been made without any reference to the distance of travel. In a letter addressed to the Union Railway Minister, Mr Laloo Prasad, the Chamber Secretary, Mr P.T.K.A. Balasubramanian, said Janata II class trains should also be introduced to Chennai, Tirupati and Bangalore from Kanniyakumari. He also welcomed the announcement to have a relook at the fares of superfast trains. The public had been much dissatisfied with the habit of Indian Railways to announce all express trains as superfast trains, a simple way to increase the charges, he added.
