The City Sessions Judge of Calcutta has stayed the entire proceedings initiated by Rameshwar Jute Mill Company (a B.K. Birla owned Company) against Birla Corporation, R.S. Lodha, R. Damani, S.K. Daga and several other directors.
Rameshwar Jute initiated a criminal proceeding against Birla Corporation and its directors alleging misappropriation of assets and funds of the company. In July, the Metropolitan Magistrate Court of Calcutta responding to a petition of Rameshwar Jute, issued summons against the alleged accused persons.
Birla Corporation and its directors moved before City Session Judge and obtained a stay over entire proceedings. Today, the counsel for Birla Corporation and its directors mentioned the matter before the 12th Metropolitan Court, from where summons were issued, and which adjourned the matter till September 8.
The City Sessions Judge fixed the hearing on September 1.
