Hyderabad , Aug. 7 Electronics Corporation of India Ltd (ECIL) has bagged a Rs 50-crore order from BrahMos Aerospace Private Ltd for executing a weapon complex from the supersonic BrahMos class of missiles. Under the contract, ECIL will supply Mobile Command Posts (MCPs), Mobile Autonomous Launchers (MALs) and Training Simulators. These systems, which would be part of the command & control system (C41), would greatly enhance the country's defence preparedness. Stating this, a press release from the public sector electronics major, ECIL said the order is to be implemented in about 18 months. It would pave the way for further orders for these modern systems, which also have good export prospects, it added. BrahMos Aerospace is a joint venture company between the Government's of India and Russia. It has successfully completed within a short pan of time, the development and testing and is in the process of securing commercial orders for induction into the country's defence forces, the BrahMos missile.
The BrahMos missile has been developed for the Indian Army for static targets. The combat vehicles were developed based on C41 concepts to plan and coordinate combat operations of the weapon complex and comprises MALs, MCPs etc, the press release said.
The final launch of the missile against the designated target for maximum impact would be dependent on the command & control system with due authorisation and authentication to ensure proper selection of the trajectory during the mission planning. Thus, the weapon complex plays an important role in the project.
The Chairman and Managing Director of ECIL, Mr G.P. Srivastava, said the company aims to consolidate its position as a national leader in the field of strategic electronics.
