Bank staff want GO on retrenchment withdrawn

Hyderabad , Aug. 8

The Andhra Pradesh Committee of the All India Bank Officers' Confederation (AIBOC) has demanded the State Government to immediately withdraw the controversial GO No. 5, which was meant to retrench thousands of Government employees.

AIBOC represents 25,000 officers of banking sector in the State comprising public sector, private sector and grameena banks.

According to the AIBOC State Secretary, Mr K. Ramakoteswara Rao, the State Committee at its meeting on August 6 deliberated on the GO.

Mr Rao said, the State committee felt that the way the GO was issued, the contents of the GO and after developments clearly proved the role of World Bank on the State Public Sector Undertakings.

PLEA TO GOVT

Stating that the contents of GO speak about retrenching employees either through VRS or other means, he asked the State Government to take corrective steps in view of the doubts raised about the whole issue.

Apart from asking the State Government to immediately withdraw the controversial GO, the AIBOC has also demanded abolition of the Implementation Secretariat to prove that the Government is functioning independently without any influence of World Bank, Mr Rao said.
