Mergers & Acquisitions Infor completes SSA Global merger, eyes acquisitions Our Bureau
Hyderabad , Aug.9 The enterprise software company Infor has announced it has completed the acquisition of SSA Global, which it acquired for $1.4 billion earlier this year and plans to consolidate its operations in India.
Indian acquisitions
The company, which has grown from barely $100 million in revenues in 2002 to $2.1 billion through over 18 acquisitions, including the recent ones of Extensity and Systems Union, is now eyeing acquisitions in India, particularly in the product related areas. The Senior Vice President of Infor, Mr John Flavin, said "Infor has emerged as the fastest growing enterprise software provider in the mid market segment having over 70,000 customers worldwide, which is more than competitors' SAP and Oracle client base."
To broaden scope
Infor model varies from its competitors in its ability to make best of the existing IT infrastructure and to build new solutions. This approach has strong client bonding and of the company's overall revenues, nearly 50 per cent comes from maintenance and support work and barely 25 per cent from licence, he said.
Plans consolidation
Addressing a press conference at their Hyderabad development centre, which the company secured through SSA Global acquisition, Mr Flavin said that the company plans to further consolidate its operations here and broaden the scope of development and support work, which will now include Infor products and services. This does not mean Infor will move jobs but the Indian development centre will complement its existing 18 other development centres spread across the globe. Incidentally, Infor did not have a presence in India and through the acquisition of SSA Global, it has now access to over 600 people and plans to induct more people across its business areas. Both Infor and SSA Global have built their companies through acquisitions and together they have made nearly 40 acquisitions to date." We continue to build on this strategy that not only helps add new services but provide new customers", he said.
