Sheet rubber rises on global trend

Spot rubber continued to rule mixed on Wednesday. A slight improvement in global futures triggered some covering purchases on RSS 4 and RSS 5, while the remaining grades including latex finished flat with narrow volumes. Sheet rubber improved to Rs 92.50 a kg from Rs 92 both at Kottayam and Kochi.

Futures gain

The NMCE rubber futures gained further riding on extremely bullish sentiments. The August contract was quoted at Rs 94.45 (Rs 92.58), September contract at Rs 90.31 (Rs 88.44), October contract at Rs 88.90 (Rs 87.49) and November contract at Rs 88.50 (Rs 87.50) per kg for RSS 4. Physical prices (Rs a kg) were: RSS-4: Rs 92.50 (Rs 92); RSS-5: Rs 90 (Rs 89.50); ungraded: Rs 87.00 (Rs 87.00); ISNR 20: Rs 89.50 (Rs 89.50) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 73.14 (Rs 73.14).
