ICAI regional conference starts today

The 38th regional conference of the Southern India Regional Council (SIRC) of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India is slated for August 11 and 12 at Tirupur. Seven technical sessions have been proposed during the two-day event.
They include inbound and outbound investments, impact of recent judicial pronouncements in direct taxation, convertibility of currency, emerging international trade scenario, convergence of accounting standards with IFRS and recent issues in service tax.
Stating that this would be the first conference of SIRC to be hosted in the hosiery town of Tirupur, the Chairman of the Conference Committee and Chairman of SIRC, Mr M. Kandasami, said the event at Sri Velayuthaswamy Kalyana Mandapam on Dharapuram Road would witness the convergence of about 1,500 members of the council. The conference is to be inaugurated by the institute's President Mr T.P. Manoharan.
