IIM-K seminar on IT management

The Indian Institute of Management - Kozhikode (IIM - K) is organising its annual IT Management Seminar, AIMS 2006, at its campus on August 12 and 13.

The event features two case-study competitions sponsored by Cognizant Technology Solutions and HCL Technologies, which are co-sponsored by IBM. Business Line is the print media partner and Rediff.com the online media partner for this event.

The seminar is organised by AbaKus, the IT and Systems interest group at IIM - K.

The theme for the seminar is `IT India: From Cost Advantage to Strategic Partnership'; the seminar will focus on the Indian IT sector and evaluate its future potential in all its manifestations.

KNOWLEDGE LEVERAGE

It will try to address the issue of how players in the sector should leverage knowledge to their advantage, and move on from a transactional mode to a more strategic one.

The seminar will also feature speakers from the industry presenting their views.

The speakers include Mr Ramkumar Ramamoorthy, Director - Corporate Marketing, Cognizant Technology Solutions; Mr Venki Sundaresan, Director - IT Group, Cypress Semiconductor; Mr Mahadevan Narayanmony, Senior Manager - Corporate Advisory Services, Grant Thornton Bangalore; Mr Harishankar, Chief Information Officer, Hindustan Lever Ltd; Mr Manish Gupta, Chief Technical Officer - India Systems and Technology Lab, IBM; Mr Somick Goswami, Head - PwC TAS, South India; and Mr Ashok Yerneni, Head - Engineering, Reach Technologies.

CASE STUDIES

The preliminary rounds have been conducted for the case-study competitions, Cognizant Sys-O-Mania and HCL Challenge, with over 200 teams participating from across the IIMs and other top B-Schools.

The selected finalists will present their analysis to a panel of judges from industry and academia. The winners will receive prizes worth over Rs 55,000, a press release from IIM - K said.
