A.K. Majumdar passes away

Mr Anil Kumar Majumdar, a former IAS official of the Maharashtra cadre, died after a prolonged illness on August 7. He was 80. Mr Majumdar had been ailing for some time.

Belonging to the 1949 batch of IAS officers, he had been the Collector of Nasik and Nagpur districts and specialised in the dairy sector, being the Director of Aarey Milk Colony, Commissioner of Dairy Development and Secretary to the Department of Animal Husbandry.

He spent several years with the Food Corporation of India.

He was also the Programme Advisor in the Planning Commission, Secretary in the Ministry of Rural Development and Member-Secretary of the Fourth Central Pay Commission.
