Chennai plans unaffected, says Cognizant

Chennai , Aug. 11

Cognizant Technology Solutions has said that its plans for Chennai will not be affected by the State Government's recent decision to cancel allotment of 20 acres to it.

On Wednesday, the DMK Government announced that it was cancelling the allotment of 123 acres to five IT companies by the previous Government at Sholinganallur, a Chennai suburb along the IT corridor.

In an interaction with journalists on the sidelines of a conference organised by the CII today, Mr Lakshmi Narayanan, President and CEO, said that in 2003 the company had asked the then AIADMK Government for land to expand its operations. It was allotted the land in March 2005. He said that this would not upset CTS's plans, adding that the company had various options before it.

On when the company was planning to start building on the land allotted to it, he said that he was unwilling to disclose such "internal decisions" of the company.

The company has also not thought about approaching the Government again for land.
