Gasohol programme

This is with reference to "Gasohol Programme may come to a halt in South" (Business Line, August 12): It is unfortunate that solutions to provide cleaner fuels such as bio-ethanol and bio-diesel are not followed through by the government.

The Tamil Nadu government should give licences to some new units to manufacture ethanol and supply it to oil companies.

It should not allow sugar companies to export molasses, instead insist that it be used to manufacture ethanol to be blended with petrol.
