German chemical co keen to invest in Mangalore SEZ

Lanxess, a German-based chemical company with production sites and agencies all over the world, has shown interest to invest in the Mangalore SEZ (special economic zone), according to a press release by the Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI).

Mr M. Padmanabha Kamath, Honorary Secretary of KCCI, said in a press release here on Monday that Dr Joerg Strassburger, Managing Director of Lanxess (India) Pvt Ltd, who visited Mangalore recently, showed interest to invest in the Mangalore SEZ.

Mr Kamath said that Dr Strassburger has shown indications to establish a unit on 100 acres of land in the SEZ, with employment opportunities for 1,000 people in the first phase.

Mr A.G. Pai, Chief Executive Officer of Mangalore SEZ Company Ltd, made a presentation on Mangalore SEZ on the occasion. He elaborated the current status and investment opportunities in the SEZ, the release said.
