Firming up plans to roll out 20 outlets by 2009

Growth plans The company hopes to open shop in at least one of the three cities of Chennai, Bangalore and Hyderabad The company's business is expected to grow from the current Rs 20 crore to Rs 100 crore in the next three years

Pune , Aug. 14

Banqueting and catering solutions provider Mayfair Celebrations will leverage the rapidly growing demand for these services amongst individuals, corporates and the have-money-will-entertain crowd to rapidly grow its business from the current Rs 20 crore to Rs 100 crore in the next three years. The company, which is already present in Delhi, Mumbai and Pune is firming up plans to roll out 20 outlets of the brand by 2009 and has already firmed up plans to set up at least five outlets this year, Mr Srinidhi Rao, Chief Operating Officer, Mayfair Celebrations, told reporters here.

Further expansion

The company is already in discussions for a possible entry into Chennai, Hyderabad and Bangalore where the demand for single stop banqueting solutions is on the rise, Mr Rao said, adding that by the beginning of next year the company expects to open shop in at least one of these locations.

Rise in revenues

With corporate entertaining on the rise, the company, part of Ghai Enterprises, which owns among other things the Baskin Robbins brand in India and the Inter Continental, Mumbai, is witnessing its revenues from the corporate sector increasing rapidly, from the level of 20 per cent of total revenues to 50 per cent currently. "We are equipped to cater to the entertaining and banqueting needs of every kind from very select, small groups to catering for over a thousand people," says Mr Abhay Manikeri, Director, Sales. Mayfair, incidentally, catered to the large pravasi divas delegation of over 5,000 people in Mumbai last year and more recently, catered to super star Aamir Khan's wedding.

`Hassle-free celebrations'

"Our strength is that we have tied up with the best people in cuisine and every other aspect of entertainment so that customers can look forward to high-quality, hassle-free celebrations," Mr Manikeri said. Last year, the company floated `Saatvik', a brand which caters exclusively to banqueting needs of vegetarians, complete with separate kitchen, cooking and serving utensils.

The company has meanwhile struck culinary gold in Pune where its business has gone up from the level of 75 lakh a year and a half back to four crore in the fiscal just ended. The city's large IT and ITES sector is one of the biggest drivers of the corporate entertaining business according to Mr Ashish Chandani, Director, Business Development.

"We are already close to finalising two other locations for our banqueting facilities in Pune," Mr Chandani said.
