DESIGNS ON SAREES: Sk. Suharab Ali of Manikpur in Howrah district, West Bengal, used to be an electrician a few years ago. Today, however, he assists his two sons who are engaged in embroidery and designing work. They do the job on contract basis. For designing a saree they charge Rs 900 to Rs 3,000. They manage to complete 16 to 18 sarees in a month with the help of four to five labourers.
