Intellicon opts for consortium route to tap ADIC market

The ADIC market, estimated at Rs 250 crore in 2005, has been growing by about 50 per cent for the last five years and this year it is estimated to grow by about 70 per cent.

Hyderabad , Aug. 15

Intellicon, an automatic data capture and barcode solutions provider, has taken the consortium route to partner Dexler Information Solutions and Essae Technologys, to offer expanded range of data capture and RFID (radio frequency identification) solutions building on joint capabilities.

This consortium of IDE Infotech seeks to offer end-to-end solutions bringing in distinct areas of expertise covering software solutions, hardware and data capture technologies.

IDE has a mandate for one of the most comprehensive inventory tracking system for ONGC, which is spread across 34 sites in the country, and the project covers design, supply and installation of enterprise-wide roll out of barcode solutions.

The Managing Director of Intellicon, Mr Sameer Parekh, told Business Line that the market for automatic data identification and capture (ADIC) is poised for growth.

Mr Parekh said the country's ADIC market, estimated at Rs 250 crore in 2005, has been growing by about 50 per cent for the last five years and this year it is estimated to grow by about 70 per cent.

Barcode technology has gone in significant changes and its advantages to rewrite them could potentially challenge RFID technology. Citing the ONGC case, Mr Parekh said that the turnkey solution involved data capture across 34 locations, which was integrated with the backbone running on SAP.

PARTNERS TANDBERG

Intellicon recently added other product streams covering the visual communication space, wherein it has partnered with Tandberg to provide video conferencing solutions being deployed in enterprises and healthcare applications.

Intellicon and ITI have recently forged an alliance to work together on a host of covergence solutions that combine Intellicon's data capture applications and other products with the reach of ITI.
