Coonoor tea sales volume at 15-week low

Low offers at the auctions of the Coonoor Tea Trade Association (CTTA) continued with the volume catalogued for Sale No: 33 this week being the lowest of the last 15 weeks.

Only 9.72 lakh kg has been catalogued for the sale to take place tomorrow and Friday. This is some 60,000 kg lower than the offer of last week. The volume lower than this was 8.8 lakh kg offered on April 27.

Of the 9.72 lakh kg, as much as 6.92 lakh kg belong to the leaf category and the remaining 2.8 lakh kg, dust category. And , as much as 8.99 lakh kg belong to the CTC variety and only 0.73 lakh kg, orthodox variety.

Orthodox continues to account for lower share among both the leaf and dust grades. In the leaf category, while the CTC teas are 6.92 lakh kg, the orthodox teas total only 0.29 lakh kg. In the dust category, while the CTC teas account for 2.36 lakh kg, orthodox teas total only 0.44 lakh kg.
