Infrastructure Government - Policy States - Kerala Smart City: Panel to decide land value Our Bureau
Thiruvananthapuram , Aug. 16 The Kerala Government will form a State-level fast-track committee to determine the value of the land to be acquired for the proposed Smart City in Kochi. The committee will recommend to the Government the compensation package for the people from whom the land is acquired. The process for acquisition of land will be set in motion immediately. A Cabinet sub-committee Chaired by the Chief Minister, Mr. V.S. Achuthanandan, on Wednesday whetted the draft agreement prepared by the IT Department for the project. The Government will send the draft agreement to Dubai Internet City (DIC), the promoters of the project, for its response to the various clauses. The agreement will be signed without delay if the clauses are acceptable to DIC, according to Government sources. It may be recalled the previous United Democratic Front (UDF) Government had promised free land to DIC for the project against job creation targets. It had also offered the Government-owned Infopark to DIC as government equity in the project.
