Wipro GE Medical Systems, leaders in medical diagnostic technology, has registered a 40 per cent growth in the sale of medical equipment in Kerala last year.

The company, which achieved a business of Rs 46 crore last year, is targeting a business of Rs 100 crore in the current fiscal. It has achieved a business of Rs 25 crore in the first quarter of the current fiscal.

RS 400-CR SALES

The company has installed a total of 100 CT and 30 MRI scans in various parts of the State. The all-India sales was to the tune of Rs 400 crore last year, Mr Vidhi Prasad, Business Manager, Wipro GE Healthcare, Kerala, said.

He said its latest CT/MRI scanning system was revolutionising the modern healthcare scenario. To create awareness among the GE users on the latest developments in the field of CT and MRI scanning, the company is organising a one-day users meet here at Le Meridian on Saturday.

AWARENESS MEET

About 100 pioneers in the field of radiology and neurology will attend the meet, which will be presided over by Mr V. Raja, President and CEO of GE Medical Systems, South Asia.

Dr Ajay Perti, Victor Diagnostics, Kochi, and Dr Rijo Mathew, Amma Scan and Diagnostics, Kochi, will speak on diagnostic imaging on CT and MRI systems.

The Light Speed VCT — the world's first Volume Computed Tomography (VCT) — system launched by GE Healthcare can capture images of a beating heart in five heart beats, an organ in one second and perform whole body trauma in 10 seconds, more than twice as fast as conventional multi slice CT scanners.

This speed is especially helpful in shortening breath holds for geriatric patients - patients who are on ventilators and paediatric patients - Dr Rijo Mathew said.

Another one is the latest High Definition MRI system known as The Sigma Excite 1.5 HD which can provide detailed pictures of anatomy and pathology to help them evaluate a wide range of conditions including stroke, heart disease etc.
