To showcase household sewing machine range, other products

Chennai , Aug. 17

Juki Corporation, Japanese sewing machine and electronic assembly and test equipment maker, will hold a three-day exhibition at Chennai called `Juki Expo 2006'.

The company will introduce household sewing machines in India through the expobesides other products.

The expo was kick-started at Bangalore in July this year and had over 2,000 visitors, said the delegation from Juki Corporation. At the Chennai expo, to be held at the Chennai Trade Centre, 39 models of industrial sewing machines, four models of household sewing machines and two models of surface mount technologies (SMT) like the `Pick and Placer' and `Flexible Pick and Placer' will be showcased.

Juki Corp has seven sales offices in India and holds 25 per cent market share in industrial sewing machines, said Mr Noriaki Saito, Managing Director, Juki Machines (India). "This expo will help us introduce the household sewing machine range and the SMT in India," he said.

All products displayed in the expo are manufactured at the company's factories in China and Japan.

Juki Corp is expanding its Chennai sales office. Officials from Juki Corp did not share details but said that the present installed capacity at the Chennai office is for 100 machines.

The company also plans to sell the SMT products directly to customers.

The SMT products are now sold through distributors and they make up 10 per cent of market share in Indian SMT market. "Through this direct selling we expect the market share to go up to 30 per cent," said Mr Saito.

`Juki Expo 2006' will be held at Delhi in September and Mumbai in November.

The Chennai expo will be held from August 18 to 20.
