Thiruvananthapuram , Aug. 17 The Wednesday's depression over the Bay of Bengal crossed land amid forecasts that more than one cyclonic circulation may settle into position one after the other during the next 5 to 6 days in the basin. This will also be accompanied by a gradual weakening of the monsoon flow over the Arabian Sea, with negative implications for rainfall episodes over the West coast and the Southern peninsula, said Dr Akhilesh Gupta of the Department of Science and Technology.

Meanwhile, seasonal rainfall deficit up till August 16 (Wednesday) is unchanged from last week at 2 per cent for the country as a whole. Heavy to very heavy falls are likely over a few places in Gangetic West Bengal, North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Saurashtra, Kutch and North Gujarat. Isolated heavy to very heavy falls are likely over South Gujarat, South Rajasthan, Southwest Madhya Pradesh, Konkan, Goa (including Mumbai), Madhya Maharashtra and Kerala.
