New Delhi , Aug. 17 SpiceJet on Thursday launched Spicejet hotels to provide Web-based hotel reservation service to customers. "The launch of Spicejet Hotels meets a long standing demand of our clients. We have often received complaints from passengers that while they are able to get a cheap flight to a tourist destination, the hotels are not available or are too expensive. Now they have the choice of booking their hotels when they book their tickets," said the airline Chairman, Mr Siddhanta Sharma. A passenger can go to the Web site (www.hotels.spicejet.com) to search, select and book the hotel from among two, three, four and five-star apart from unspecified budget hotels.
Ancillary revenue
The Web site would offer hotel rooms at rates which would be 15-30 per cent less than the rack rates charged by the hotels. The tie-up would also help the airline increase its ancillary revenues. "Globally low-cost airlines depend on ancillary revenues to shore up their bottom line. Ancillary revenues accounted for about 4.5 per cent of our total revenues of Rs 420 crore last year. During the current year we hope that ancillary revenues would account for about 7 per cent of total revenues," said Mr Sharma.
