Mumbai , Aug. 18

Gateway Distriparks Ltd (GDL), a port-based logistics facilitator, on Friday inaugurated its sixth warehouse at its Container Freight Station at Dronagiri, about 9 km from the Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust (JNPT).

Spread over an area of 2,400 sq. metre, the new warehouse will have a capacity to handle 800 TEUs per month, thus, increasing the total container handling capacity at JNPT to 2.16 lakh TEUs per annum.

Speaking at the inauguration, Capt. Christopher S. Verma, Chief Executive Officer, said, "Booming export trade coupled with the third terminal at JNPT has led to a massive increase in containerised cargo. This has resulted in increasing transit time, and, hence, the huge demand for warehousing."
