Track conversion

This is with reference to `Gauge conversion will help cut losses' (Business Line, August 16): The Railways' study indicates that the conversion of all metre and narrow gauge lines into broad-gauge will reduce losses from Rs 3,200 crore to Rs 1,600 crore per annum.

If the Railways concentrate on projects such as these, there will no necessity to burden consumers with additional charges.
