New Delhi, Aug. 21

As many as 12,000 clerical staff and 4,000 subordinate staff of State Bank of India's (SBI) Delhi circle are to go on a day-long strike on September 1 to protest against outsourcing and certain alleged violation of service conditions by the management. SBI's Delhi Circle covers 1,000 branches spread over Rajasthan, west Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, part of Haryana and the entire Uttaranchal. The SBI Staff Association (SBISA) staged a dharna at the local head office on Monday. "We will continue to be on a dharna till August 31. On September 1, all the 16,000 employees (clerical and subordinate staff) in Delhi circle will go on a day-long strike to protest against the outsourcing of activities like clearing work and signature scanning. We will also protest against non-absorption of certain temporary subordinate staff," Mr V.K. Gupta, General Secretary, SBISA, Delhi Circle, told Business Line.
