Mangalore, Aug. 22

The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has urged the Union Government to repair the stretch of National Highway between Surathkal and Panambur in Mangalore. In a letter to the Union Minister for Shipping and Surface Transport, Mr T.R. Baalu, copies of which were released to the press here, Mr A. Srinivasa Rao, KCCI President, said the stretch of National Highway between Surathkal and Panambur is in bad condition and requires immediate repair. The traffic on this stretch is considerably high, and motoring is risky in the present condition. Repeated requests in this regard to National Highway Authority of India have not yielded any result, he added.
