Mumbai , Aug. 22

The Reserve Bank of India employees have deferred their strike, after the management said it would take up the employees' demands with the Government. The strike has been deferred till September 10, said Mr T.N. Ganapathy, General Secretary, All India Reserve Bank Officers Association.

The RBI employees are demanding an increase in the level of their pensions to that of Central Government employees. The pension for RBI employees was introduced in 1990 and is on the lines of the Central Government employees.

"The Fifth Pay Commission has recommended a pay and pension revision for Central Government employees, which has been accepted and implemented. We are demanding the same," he said.

He said, "We are likely to have a meeting with the RBI Governor, Dr Y.V. Reddy, by September 10, after which we will decide the further course of action."
