New Delhi , Aug. 22

To provide vocational training to its students, Delhi University announced on Tuesday a tie up with accounting software company Tally India Pvt Ltd to impart training in financial software.

"In the present scenario where employment opportunities are limited, our students will actually benefit from vocational programmes like this that enhances their skills and empowers them for a better tomorrow," Dean of Colleges, University of Delhi, Prof Shirin Rathore, said. The training programme will be introduced in all the 57 colleges under Delhi University, she added.

"The demand for trained manpower and the dearth of vocational courses, especially in the arts and commerce domain, has led to a gap in the market. Tally has thus started partnering with academia across the country to meet this requirement and the partnership with Delhi University is a major initiative in this direction," Tally India General Manager-Sales Education and Training Division, Mr Gopi M.G. said.

The fee for the 72-hour programme is Rs 1,800. After successful completion of the training programme by a student, a certificate would be awarded by the respective college and Tally.
