Scientific temper

It was Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru's dream that India should attain "a scientific temper."

News of people flocking to the Mahim Beach to drink the water on hearing that it had turned sweet shows that it will be many centuries before his wish can be realised.

Soon after, came another report — one of idols of Hindu deities drinking milk offered to them.

This news also spread like wild fire and the TV news channels had a field day, showing devotees offering milk to idols.

The only miracle I would like God to perform would be to remove superstition from our countrymen en masse.
