Tourism Hyderabad to host travel convention from Sept 1 Our Bureau
"We don't have good network connecting tourism destinations. Also, we need to develop tourism destinations as complete products."
Hyderabad , Aug. 24 The Travel Agents Association of India (TAAI) will hold its 55th convention and exhibition in Hyderabad from September 1. The four-day eventwill focus on the theme `The future is now'. Announcing the details of the convention here on Wednesday, Mr C. Venkateshwara Prasad, Vice-President of TAAI, said some top names in the travel, hospitality and infrastructure industries would take part. Mr Vijay Mallya, Chairman of UB group and promoter of Kingfisher Airlines; Dr Dinesh Keskar, Senior Vice-President of Boeing Inc; Capt. Gopinath, CMD, Air Deccan; and Mr V. Trivedi, CMD, Indian, would be some of the speakers. The Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir and the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Mr L.K. Advani, would also address the convention. About 1,500 delegates including from countries like Australia, are expected to participate. About the issues dogging the travel and tourism sectors in the country, Mr Prasad said there was a huge capacity shortage that hampered the growth of the sectors. Another bottleneck was absence of sufficient hospitality back up. "Hotel prices are skyrocketing," he pointed out. Mr Vijay Mohan Raj, Chairman of TAAI's AP Chapter, said that Hyderabad beat Cairo and several other Indian cities to wrest the 55th convention of TAAI.
