Danish co DFDS in tie-up with Seabridge

DFDS Transport of Denmark has launched a joint venture company in India in partnership with Seabridge Maritime Agencies belonging to the Mumbai-based Parekh Group to offer airfreight, seafreight and logistics services, according to shipping and logistics industry sources.

Stakeholding

The name of the joint venture company is DSV Air & Sea Pvt Ltd and the Danish firm will hold the majority stake of 72 per cent in it, with the balance 28 per cent going to Seabridge.

DFDS had earlier worked with its present Indian partner.

The joint venture company is based in Mumbai, with branch offices in Delhi, Chennai and Bangalore. It sees good business prospects in coming years.

Oldest Danish co

DFDS (Det Forenede Dampskibs Selskab) is the largest and the oldest shipping company of Denmark. It was founded in 1866.

The freight activities are undertaken by DFDS Tor Line, the main customer group being shipping and transport companies and manufacturers of industrial goods.

Besides, Denmark, it is present in 12 other European nations, operating 60 freight ships, five passenger ships, posting a turnover of 6.3 billion in Danish currency (DKK) and employing 4,200 people.

In Asia, DFDS is active in 11 countries, employing more than 1,000 people.
