Corpn Bank to add more branches

L.N. Revathy

Coimbatore , Aug. 25

Corporation Bank is planning to add 55 branches to its network of 840 during the current year.

The bank Chairman and Managing Director, Mr B. Sambamurthy, told Business Line that the permit was in place and there were plans to open 35 branches in the north and eastern parts of the country and 12 in the south.

The number of ATMs has already exceeded the branch network by 80 to 920. The bank has, however, applied for permission for opening another 100 off-site ATMs.

It has brought 575 branches under the CBS platform and hoping to complete the process by end 2007.

The bank has tied up with Visa for launching the credit card. `The board has cleared the proposal. The roll out is likely to happen by end October and early November. We are in the process of executing service provider contracts.'

"We are recruiting professionals and specialist officers. We have roped in 35 chartered accountants and 75 agricultural officers. We are on the look out for some more people apart from qualified IT and HR professionals."
