AP Bhavan site in Delhi may house star hotel too

The Andhra Pradesh Government is likely to construct a five-star hotel in New Delhi at the site it got from the Centre as compensation for losing the site that housed Andhra Pradesh Bhavan.

Mr L.V. Subrahmanyam, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of Infrastructure Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd (INCAP), said the new AP Bhavan would be ready by December. It would cost up to Rs 400 crore.

The Centre suggested that a star hotel at the site would be a nice idea, as it would come in handy during the upcoming Commonwealth Games.

Showcasing the activity of INCAP to a Singapore business delegation for possible collaborations, Mr Subrahmanyam said Visakhapatnam would get an international airport. Also, the Government is proposing to develop airports at smaller towns in the State.

Huge gas reserves in the Krishna-Godavari basin too offered business opportunities. "We are assessing the demand potential in various parts. Once it is ready, we will have an idea on the potential routes for taking the gasto other parts," he said.

He said the 162-km Outer Ring Road (ORR) around the State capital would have several first-of-its-kind features, including high-speed stretches.

IT PARKS

Mr B.P. Acharya, Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of AP Industrial Infrastructure Corporation, said the corporation was developing IT parks and an IT special economic zones. Inviting participation from Singapore companies, he said the upcoming Business District, Trade Towers at Manchirevula and the 35,000-acre PCIR (Petrochemical Investment Region) along Visakhapatnam-Kakinada stretch promised good opportunities. The PCIR would house several SEZs.

An exclusive SEZ was being planned for biotechnology at Karakapatla in Medak district. "We are talking to infrastructure development companies in this regard," he said.
