The Minister also requested the members for their co-operation and support in improving the fortunes of the coir industry. With an effective Government-private sector partnership initiatives, he pointed out that exports could touch Rs 1,000 crore by the year 2010.

Mr K. Sugunendran, the Chairman of the Association, highlighted the achievements of the coir industry over the last 50 years and also touched upon some problems being faced by it.
