Education States - Tamil Nadu Toyota Kirloskar training initiative Our Bureau
Chennai , Aug. 28 Toyota Kirloskar Motor, in conjunction with Toyota Motor Corporation, announced here today that it has introduced an apprentice-training initiative at the Mohanmull Chordia Jain Industrial Training Centre. Titled the Toyota Technical Education Programme (TTEP), this is the fourth initiative of its kind in India, according to Mr Matsunami, General Manager, Toyota Motor Corporation. Worldwide, the programme is present in 50 countries including the US, Australia, Italy, South Africa, China and Vietnam. More than 390 industrial training institutes are involved in the programme, and more than 18,000 students have been through the course, he said. TTEP is a training module that aims at enhancing the skill sets and employability of students undergoing industrial training between the age of 15 and 18. Mr Matsunami said that the timing is right for setting up this course because technical manpower in India suffers from low certification rates, and the training is insufficient in the field of repair and diagnostics. He said that TTEP hopes to address these problems by partnering industrial training institutes and jointly working with its dealers over the next four years.
