Tirunelveli , Aug. 29 The `Business Line Club', the first of its kind to be established in an institute for higher education here to act as a campus interface to the corporate world, was inaugurated at the Department of Management Studies of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. Explaining the role of `Business Line Club' in facilitating the academic activities, faculty member of the Department of Management Studies and coordinator of the new entity, Mr S. Samuel Asir Raj, said the club, formed for the first time in a university with rural background, would connect the budding managers here with the corporate houses in metro cities by way of visits to major industries. Moreover, it would also provide a platform for the students, faculty members and the guest lecturers to discuss various business features. Delivering the keynote address at the inaugural function of the club, the General Manager, PSA - Sical Terminals Ltd, Tuticorin, Mr John Quok Jong Eng, on `Managing Joint Ventures in a Globalised Era', said his organisation, "a successful joint venture" between PSA and Sical, accorded priority to applying their business practices being followed at Singapore - professionalism, accountability and customer satisfaction - at Tuticorin also and hence it was no wonder it turned out to be a flourishing endeavour. Focus on respective key operational competencies, social management, joint commercial collaborations and common strategic visions would be the best qualities of managing joint ventures, Mr John Quok noted. The Dean, Student Affairs, MSU, Mr G. Karunanithi, felicitated the guests.
