MANIFOLD INCREASE: Paddy being winnowed at a field in Kerala's Thrissur district. Rice exports from the country have jumped five-fold during the last five years and shipments are expected to top $1 billion this fiscal.

The country exported 39.05 lakh tonnes of rice, worth Rs 14,144.03 crore, last fiscal with Africa being the main buyer of Indian rice.
