Compensation for CBEC officials kin

New Delhi, Aug. 29

The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) has directed payment of Rs 5 lakh as compensation to each of the families of two officers - Sanjay Sawant and Shashi Shekhar Singh — of the central excise department who died in the serial bomb blasts in Mumbai on July 11.

An official release said that this has been done with the approval of the Union Finance Minister.

Compensation of Rs 1 lakh each was also given to two persons who were seriously injured in the bomb blasts and Rs 25,000 each to nine persons who sustained less serious injuries and are now being treated in various hospitals.
