Hyderabad , Aug. 30

The Andhra Pradesh Government will expedite work on the eight-lane Outer Ring Road (ORR) expressway work, while suitably compensating the oustees, in efforts to improve infrastructure to attract more inward investments.

Speaking after inaugurating the second phase of Microsoft India Development Centre, the Chief Minister, Dr Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, said: "The issue of farmer oustees is being debated very actively both in the State Assembly and outside. We are firm that the project should go ahead, as this falls into the long-term vision of the State Government." The issue with regard to adequate compensation will be looked into with compassion, he said. Some political parties are opposed to this project.

Earlier, speaking about the progress Andhra Pradesh and Hyderabad have made over the years in terms of IT exports, Dr Reddy said against overall IT exports of 36 per cent witnessed in the county, the State registered a growth of 51 per cent in 2005-06.

Last fiscal, exports of Rs 12,500 crore accounted for about 53 per cent of the State's overall exports.
