Retailing Godrej's retail unit targets Rs 300-cr turnover by 2010 Our Bureau
Chennai , Aug. 30 The retailing division of Godrej & Boyce Manufacturing Co Ltd is targeting a turnover of Rs 300 crore by 2010 and will have a total of 90 Lifespace stores in two to three years, according Mr Shyam Motwani, Vice-President and Business Head, Godrej & Boyce Mfg. Co Ltd Retailing Division. To achieve the turnover of Rs 300 crore, Godrej plans to spend Rs 7.5 crore on manpower and training, Rs 16 crore on advertising and promotions and Rs 12.5 crore on new stores over the next two to three years.
Portfolio expansion
Godrej plans to expand its portfolio and introduce digital cameras, digital camcorders, PCs, laptops, microwave proof containers, kids products such as soft toys, wall furnishing and crystalware.
Fourth Lifespace store
The retailing division also plans to cross the Rs 100-crore mark by the end of 2006-07, he said at the launch of the fourth Lifespace store in Chennai. The new Lifespace store will display all Godrej products from appliances, home and office furniture, security systems, home accessories and lifestyle products. At present, Godrej has 42 stores across the country. There are nine stores in the North, 14 in the West, 13 in the South and six in the East.
