Dhoni in Mysore Sandal commercials

Our Bureau

Chennai, Aug. 31

Mysore Sandal Soap television commercials featuring wicketkeeper-batsman M.S. Dhoni would be on air shortly, according to Mr I.R. Perumal, Managing Director, Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Ltd (KSDL). He said that the company has observed a spurt in sales after they brought the cricketer on board three months ago.

As a result, the company has targeted a sales turnover of Rs 153 crore for the current fiscal as opposed to Rs 125 crore last year. Dhoni, who is in Chennai to shoot for the television commercial, said that he would continue his relationship with KSDL. Currently, KSDL sources about 70 per cent of its sandalwood from Tamil Nadu, said Mr Perumal. He explained that this was due to some of the restrictions in Karnataka and that sandalwood is cheaper in Tamil Nadu.
