Spot rubber prices ruled unchanged on Saturday. With only a few more days left to Onam, the market appeared to be in a holiday mood and the transactions were in a low key.

Enquiries from the non-tyre sector kept ungraded rubber slightly firm by 50 paise at Rs 83 a kg, while sheet rubber closed flat at Rs 87 a kg at Kottayam. But the grade was quoted better at Rs 87.50 against Rs 86.50 a kg at Kochi.

Futures weak

The rubber futures showed a weak trend in the weekend session on NMCE. The September contract closed at Rs 89.50 (Rs 90.03), October contract at Rs 85.95 (Rs 86.74), November contract at Rs 86.02 (Rs 86.75) and December contract at Rs 86.60 (Rs 87.61) per kg for RSS 4.

Rates (Rs a kg) were: RSS-4: Rs 87 (Rs 87); RSS-5: Rs 85 (Rs 85); ungraded: Rs 83 (Rs 82.50); ISNR 20: Rs 85 (Rs 85) and latex 60 per cent: Rs 70 (Rs 70).
